Save Your Trees With A Support System

Support systems strengthen trees and reduce risks. We offer dynamic Cobra support systems, brace rods, static steel cable with stoppers, 1/2" thru bolts, and custom-built guys, braces, and props. We strive to save your trees rather than remove them.

We provide support systems for:

  • Weak Trees
  • Young Trees
  • Newly Transplanted Trees
  • Damaged Trees
  • Trees Along Streets And Highways

Support systems help your trees withstand high winds, heavy snow, ice build-up, and Seattle storms that would otherwise lead to branch and trunk breakage. Our arborists and tree care specialists can evaluate your trees and design a support system that encourages strong vertical growth and reduces the risk to your safety during storms.

Our Tree Support Systems

Tree support systems provide supplemental support to leaders, individual branches,  and entire trees. Cables, braces, guys, and props limit the movement and encourage vertical growth. When a tree has a structural defect that poses a high likelihood of failure, which can cause injury or property damage, a support system can reduce this risk.

We can install support systems to vulnerable parts of your tree to prevent movement and provide strength, including:

  • Co-dominant Stems
  • Heavy Branches
  • Overhanging Branches
  • Weakly Anchored Trees (trees transplanted with an insufficient root ball)

Pruning and trimming can resolve risks associated with co-dominant stems and overhanging branches, particularly on
younger trees. However, the only other alternative for weakly anchored trees is removal.

How Long Do Support Systems Last?

Tree support systems have a limited service life. Our arborist conducts periodic inspections of your tree support system. We inspect the cable tension, condition of the cable and associated hardware, its height in the tree, and the tree’s structural integrity.

Steel cables can last 20 to 40 years in an arid climate or on a slow-growing tree. Cable service life can be shorter in an area exposed to salt spray or with a rapidly growing tree.

Guy systems on newly transplanted
small trees should be removed after one year unless the root system is weak. On trees up-righted after storms or large transplants, guys should remain in place for at least three years to allow the root system to reestablish itself. On mature trees, guy systems can remain permanently if required.

What If A Support System Cannot Save My Tree?

Unfortunately, support systems cannot solve every tree strength issue. If support systems do not provide the strength and security your trees need, our tree care specialists can provide
tree removal services to ensure your safety.
